Only A Child
Gracie and Rachel
This was inspired by the simplicity of the instrumentation and complexities of the message conveyed in ‘Only A Child’. The stark contrast in the music and the overall aesthetics of Gracie and Rachel immediately brought to mind the works of Ingmar Bergman. The opening moment of the film ‘Persona” became a jumping off point to push the project into full speed. Other great artists who have manipulated projections like Guy Sherwin and Stan Brakhage began to bleed into the conversations. The idea built up to create a space of reflection where Gracie and Rachel would be looking back onto earlier memories in an attempt to grasp those emotions of childhood once again. Together Chris, Gracie, and Rachel designed a visual language where moments of time and the literal space being explored could be experimented upon.
