LED ROCK is an animated music video for Japanese two piece DJ band 'KIREEK.' They won their 5th consecutive title in the biggest DJ contest in the world, the DMC World Championships. So cockpits of Soundbots they get on is designed like DJ instruments. Two of KIREEK steer Soundbots by spinning turntables. Soundbots injects "record bomb" from the arm and put out a shockwave from speaker unit on the body. On the other hand, Brainbots moves in the copied data from the human brain.
They multiply by repeating the copy and spit a shockwave from speaker unit on the head. Battle of Soundbots and Brainbots is homage of Proposition "Vinyl or Audio Data". It directed by KEN IMAI. Toy artist, TKO designed human characters, TAKUMI YUTO was in charge of Visual Effects and KEN IMAI created all other CG works include robot design.
Ken Imai is a Japan based video artist with an unusual career. As sci-fi & music geek, he studied nuclear science at Hokkaido university in Japan. He had a career as a professional skier from his school days. He simultaneously established Japan’s first riders-leading ski film company; launching 6 movies as a director and a videographer. After that, he released two works with a Japanese snowboard crew led by 5 Olympians. Recently, he shifted his focus to create movies with CG.
