Live Through The Night
Dear Rouge
The song Live Through The Night has a sense of the dark and mysterious. A deep bass line that grabs you. I pitched the idea of creatively filming light and liquid in slow-motion based on the theme of 'dark vs. light'. The band as the focus, fighting to 'live through the night and come out alive'. The slow-motion ink in water idea is something I had wanted to test for a long time and believed would be a perfect fit for the music. The way that ink can slowly form colourful shapes can be mesmerising. It so happened that the Phases tour poster coincidentally featured a series of hands with paint flowing through them. We then began to experiment with featuring hands in water with the ink. From multiple discussions with Danielle and Drew we decided to take a gritty and fast cutting approach to the edit. Hopefully capturing the viewer's attention as the music guides them through the 'grit and gloss' visuals, delivering an abstract and mysterious experience.
