Great Elk’s music is both disturbing and comforting, like meeting someone for the first time and discovering they know everyone you’ve ever loved. On the heels of their debut, self-titled EP, released June 2010, Great Elk has begun touring throughout the Northeastern and mid-Atlantic states.

The last few months have been exciting for Great Elk with their EP garnering attention from the likes of Paste Magazine, Magnet Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Post and many more. Since the record was released before a packed house at Mercury Lounge the band has played two more hugely successful shows in the new large room at Rockwood Music Hall. Their audience is growing with every strike of a chord. This fall promises that the momentum behind them won’t slow as the band looks forward to their first official showcase during the 2010 CMJ Music Marathon, more trips to new cities and several exciting NYC shows that are in the works.
