We are proud to present the director's cut of ARIZONA, a music video we produced with the Silver Sound Showdown Music + Video Festival Grand Prize-winners director Frank Jerky and Frances Cone.
This piece is near and dear to our hearts. The song has been stuck in our heads for months. The video was shot in one of the most magical and beautiful places in the world-- Wintergreen Lake in Hague, New York-- right at the apex of fall.
We were particularly impressed with director Frank Jerky's ability to create a piece that is such a departure from his other work. Yet, like all his work, there is that special something-- that special Jerky-- in there, that belongs solely to him.
Cinematographer Andres Cardona, as more elegant phrases are escaping us at the moment, was off the hook. He worked side by side with colorist Vlad Kucherov to create a palette somehow both dreamlike and vivid at the same time. Between masterful composition and an intuition second to none, Andres helped deliver something... dare we say it... truly poetic.
It is our privilege every year to not only hold what we feel is the best music video festival in the world, but also collaborate with its winners. It's an exciting, scary, and beautiful process. Often times, like this time, the director and the band meet for the first time at the festival. This year we were excited that from the same footage two very different tellings of the same story emerged: the festival cut and the band cut.
PaperMag, which premiered the band cut, calls it "an autumnal, slightly elegiac and slightly joyful visual poem..."
FRANCES CONE is a Brooklyn-based indie-pop band fronted by Christina Cone. Their lush harmonies and intimate understanding of each other as players and people allow their sound to be both enormous and intimate, huge yet familiar.
SILVER SOUND, in the Flatiron neighborhood of Manhattan, is an Emmy Award-winning NYC post-production sound studio and team of location sound mixers, as well as a film production company.

Frank is a multi award-winning director for Ima Robot's music video "Greenback Boogie" and short-films such as “Letter to Boddah” and “SIX”. He started writing and directing short films in high school, before graduating at the European Institute of Design and moving to New York, where he attended the one year film-making program at the NYFA. Founder of Wrong Way Pictures, under this banner he has directed numerous excellent music videos and short films.
